Mohammed Kunaye, speaker of the Somali regional parliament is a most wanted
fugitive today. According to information received from Jigjiga, Ethiopia, he
escaped to avoid jail time after being found guilty of embezzling millions of
birres from the Liban Zone general funds and other funds from miscellaneous
activities. He also found guilty of human right abuses and other criminal
activities. There, he was removed from his cabinet seat, congressional seat,
speakership, and was impeached from the parliament. There was an order for his
arrest. However, he escaped while the parliamentarians were debating for his
impeachment. So, the authorities have ordered a manhunt to capture him, but so
far no one knows or has come forward with the information leading to his
whereabouts.
Also,
two of his lieutenants Mr. Mohamed Dhere and Mr. Qayane who are confessed to
their crimes have escaped to Kenya on August 14, 2006 from Moyale, and Mr.
Abdirahaman Harami was captured while he was on the run.
There is a crisis going on in Mandera Central. It was alleged that Mr. Adan Mohamed Nura and Mr Edin Dido ordered their field lieutenants to bring in Murrale herders whom were denied to settle in Wargadud to settle in the “TUF LAND” in Boru Hatch, Bur Mayo and the Garse Salla areas. As a result, Mr. Adan Ali “Qoto” helped the Murrale herders to settle in Boru Hatche and Mr. Malin Mohamed Isab Diid helped to bring others to Garse Salla. Therefore, tensions are very high between the Gharri people, and also between the Gharri and the Murrales.
