BROTHER NABBED OVER STOLEN BVR KITS
The Kenya police
arrested Suleiman Roba (brother to His Excellency, Ali Ibrahim Roba)
after he was found in possession of stolen BVR kits in Banissa. The BVR
kits were allegedly stolen from Lafey Constituency two days earlier by
"suspected" Al-Shabab terrorists. Other suspicious documents found with
the suspect include over 200 National Identity Cards (bought from
innocent pastoralists in exchange of food aid) as well as over 1,000,000
shillings. It was also alleged that he had already issued fake voters
cards to unsuspecting
pastoralists while posing as IEBC clerk.
A police officer who spoke to me on condition of
anonymity informed me that there are also pursuing other leads. "It is
well orchestrated and well planned scheme," he said. Among key suspects
in the network include aspirants MCAs and MPs under the so-called
"It is not
business as usual," said the officer. "The information was brought to
our attention by NSIS. No one is above the law" he added.
