Central Gharri Region News Update Wednesday August 06, 2008 by Gur Gharri GSG News  contributor:

El Wak- It has been about a week and half since the Gharri people and the rebellious group of “Derg” announced an agreement in Nairobi to stop inner fighting among themselves and agreed in principle to share parliamentary seats amongst two major parties, namely Tuf and Quran.

We are pleased to report that their agreement has produced very valuable results preserving and bringing the two groups closer than anticipated by many within a short time frame.

As a result of that agreement, today the El Wak and Mandera Districts Gharri citizens are working together side by side and speaking out in one voice against their common enemies. They have begun working to rebuild and restore lost trusts.

Now, for the first time in years, one prominent Gharri Chief, and a Counselor, we spoke with were praising Mr. Adan Mohamed Noor for his recent speech and performance at the Mandera conference between the Gharri and Murale land disputes. He is viewed as the most changed ex leader who is committed to restoring brotherly love that was badly damaged during the past four years.

It was said that all the major players have realized and were committed to restoring communal values that had evaporated in the past 12 months.
