BREAKING NEWS FRON CENTRAL GHARRI REGION

On Saturday January 07, 2006, the Degody Clansmen attacked Gharri herders who fled from the famine stricken Mandera district to Bulo Amino, near Dolo Ethiopia. According to information received from Mandera town, the attackers got away with over 300 heads of cattle belonging to Sheikh Hassan Mohamed Haji, Mr. Ibrahim Dura Gora and other individuals. Also, one of the six herders or Sheppard’s who was seriously injured was taken to Dolo hospital on the Ethiopian side. He is Sheikh Hassan Mohamed Haji’s son, and five other herders are still missing and their fates are unknown at this time.  We will inform you as soon as the latest information becomes available.
